I Decided to Stop Worrying

stop-worrying

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference…

Today I made a conscious decision to STOP WORRYING about the things that I can’t control and FOCUS on the things that I can… like what I’m shoveling down my throat. I’m a stress eater and the stresses of 2016 have me tipping the scales in the wrong direction. Like many of us, I know what I SHOULD eat… I just don’t.

So after slogging my way through Zumba, I made a beeline for the grocery store and stocked up on fruits, vegetables, herbs, and snacks. I’ve never done meal prep before but today I decided to give it a whirl.

Every time I felt worry creep in today I just said “Praise God… or Hallelujah” and kept cooking.

Matthew 6:27:31
Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’
Matthew 6:33
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

So with that in mind… I’m regaining control over the things that worry has cost me, namely my health, and trusting God for the rest.

Carrying excess weight is a direct reflection of my faith. If I believe God as much as I say I do, then why am I stressing? As I embark on this journey, it’s not about shedding pounds, but shedding worry. And I believe that as I shed worry, my body will respond to a harmonious spirit, making me lighter physically and mentally.
